Moscow Five have qualified for the Grand Final at ICSC 8, following a 2-0 victory against Virtus.pro in the semi-final.

The Russian battle started on de_inferno, with Virtus.pro starting on the attacking side. Yesterday, when the two played the same map, both teams displayed strong performance on the T side, and Virtus.pro did exactly the same today. At half-time, they had a seven round lead, with Anton "kibaken" Kolesnikov having played exceptionally, having a score of 21 and 5 deaths before switching sides.

Moscow Five won the second half's pistol round, after Virtus.pro attempted an aggressive CT push. Moscow Five took seven consecutive rounds, before Virtus.pro managed to win their first, tying the score at 12-12. It would be in the last round Virtus.pro managed to win, as Moscow Five took four rounds in a row to win 16-12.

Second map, de_train, started with Moscow Five winning the pistol round from the T side, which came about as Alexander "xek" Zobkov won an unique 1-versus-4 situation. After one eco round, Virtus.pro managed to stop the M5 attack, to win their first round, and that continued for another six rounds, putting Virtus.pro in the lead by 7-2. At the end of the half, Moscow Five had gained quite a lot on the Virtus.pro lead, securing six rounds, while Virtus.pro had won nine.

Virtus.pro extended their lead by winning the pistol round of the second half, following a nicely executed fake push on the inner bomb spot, only to plant on the outer. Once Moscow Five had the finances to buy equipment, they succeeded in winning their first round in the second half.

Six rounds later, Moscow Five had brought the match to a tie, with both teams having 12-12 rounds won. Two rounds later, both teams had won one round each, meaning once again they were tied at 13-13. Two rounds later, Moscow Five secured match point and Virtus.pro could not deny them the following round, meaning a 16-13 win for Moscow Five and 2-0 overall.

With the victory, Moscow Five might be able to recover their July wage, after the organization owner, Dmitryi "ddd1ms" Smelyi, yesterday had stated the following regarding the two map loss' against Virtus.pro:

"For losing to Virtus.pro my team will not get any salary this month. I say that. They will need to earn the money in this championship by themselves if they don't want to die from starvation. Virtus.pro guys have done a good job, they have prepared well for the game against M5."

Moscow Five will now square off against SK Gaming in the Grand Final. This match is scheduled to start at 17:00 . The winner of this match will score $5,000 and the victory at ICSC 8, while runners-up will have to do with $3,000.
